A video camera surveys the area around the door in order to open the door automatically and to avoid having to operate the door visually or manually. The video camera has picture recognition means which detect movements in the area near the door and which produce a release signal for the doors to operate, in the shortest possible time frame, should the relevant movements not approach the door.
