The device has ultrasonic sensors (2) mounted at an outer surface of a pipeline (5), and emitting ultrasonic-measurement signals in a direction of flow. A regulation-/evaluating processor unit determines a mass flow rate of a measuring medium (7) of the pipeline. The sensors have a flow body whose inner area is filled with a medium that has same properties as that of the measuring medium regarding the propagation of the signals.
