The blower unit, especially for the minimizing of air embolisms and for the improving of visibility conditions during surgical interventions, has a pressure-stable mixing chamber (4) with at least two inlets and one outlet (7). One inlet (6) as a gas inlet passage (9) is connected via a gas cleaning filter (10) to a compressed gas supply (12) containing no air and better soluble in blood than nitrogen, especially carbon dioxide, and the other inlet (5) as a fluid inlet passage (13) is connected to a pressure-controllable fluid container (15), and the outlet is connected to a cannula (8) orientated to the place (3) of the surgical intervention and delivering a compressed gas/fluid jet selectable in composition and mixture.
