The method provides liquid electrolytes (1) that comprise metal ions that react with hydrogen sulfide, and measuring conductivity modification of the electrolytes. Concentration of hydrogen sulfide is determined from the measured conductivity modification of the electrolytes. Synthesis gas and the electrolytes are conveyed as reaction partners to a mixing equipment and the gas and the electrolytes are mixed. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining concentration of hydrogen sulfide in gas.
