The agglomerate brick, for use in shaft or Corex or blast furnaces, is composed of 1-30 wt.% bonding agent, up to 10 wt.% of a setting and fixing accelerator and the remainder of Al2O3 in particles with a grain size of at most 3 mm and preferably as dust. The brick has a compression strength of at least 5 N/mm2 at temperatures up to 400 deg. C. The brick has a cylinder, cube or polygon shape.
