The air conditioning system has a unit for adiabatic cooling (3) of at least a part of the air flows, a unit for the transmission of thermal energy and/or moisture (4) between the flow paths, flap valves (71,72,81-83,91-94) to control the air flows, and a unit (17) connected to components (21,22,3-6) for airflow generation and thermodynamic treatment and to the flap valves to control the air flows in dependence upon the respective outside climate, the set and actual values of the room climate, and the energy consumption of the components for air flow generation and thermodynamic treatment. An independent claim is included for a method for the operating of the aforesaid air conditioning system.
