The stream is supplied over a regulating valve with a supercharger (3) and compressor current, and arrives into the oxidation catalyst with over stoichiometry air ratio. An exhaust gas temperature sensor is placed before the NOx catalyst (5), which is de-sulfurised and NOx sensor is placed after the NOx catalyst. Sulfur accumulating is determined by measuring the content of the gas. A control unit determines the recovery time by a computational model. An independent claim is also included for a method of recovering the accumulator catalyst by using the above device.
