The operating method involves the allocation of entire fuel quantity which is to be injected by the single injection (44a-d) per work cycle (39) depending time to time upon nominal lambda value. The nominal lambda value influences the fuel quantity of only a part (44c,44d) of the single injection inside the group (45).
