The valve assembly for a check valve or a multiway valve, especially for a cyclic process operated by a refrigerant, has a valve seat (22) and a shut-off component (19). A plane closing face (29) lies media-tight on a sealing face (31), and the sealing face in cross section has a radially extending curved, hump-form, or circular arc-form contour. The sealing face is provided on the valve seat or on the valve shut-off component. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a multiway valve especially for the aforesaid valve assembly; and (B) a check valve especially for the aforesaid valve assembly.
