Preparation of olefin polymers with a molecular mass of 500-50,000 g/mol comprises polymerization or copolymerization of at least an olefin (A) (in solution, in suspension or in the gas phase) at -60 to 200[deg]C and 0.5-100 bar, in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst system containing at least an organo-transition metal component (I) and at least a co-catalyst system. Preparation of olefin polymers with a molecular mass of 500-50,000 g/mol comprises polymerization or copolymerization of at least an olefin (A) (in solution, in suspension or in the gas phase) of formula (Ra-CH=CH-Rb) at -60 to 200[deg]C and 0.5-100 bar, in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst system containing at least an organo transition metallic component of formula (I) and at least a co-catalyst system. M1elements of 3-6 groups of the periodic table of elements or lanthanide; X : organic or inorganic residue (where two of X forms a double bond residue); n : 1-4; R1, R4H, 1-40C organic residue (unbranched in alpha -position) or 1-40C organic residue (hybridized over sp2-carbon); R2, R31-40C organic residue; either R5-R8H, halo or R2; or two of the groups R5-R81-40C mono- or polycyclic ring system optionally substituted with heteroatoms of Si, Ge, N, P, O, S, Se or Te; Z : bridge between double bonded atom or a double bonded group; and either Ra, Rb : H or 1-20C hydrocarbon; and/or Ra, Rb+atoms : ring. Independent claims are also included for: (1) organo-transition metal component (I); (2) a biscyclopentadienyl ligand system of formula (II) or its double bonded isomers; (3) a catalyst system comprising at least one organo-transition metal (4) component and at least a co-catalyst system; and (5) use of biscyclopentadienyl ligand system for the manufacture of the organo-transition metal component.
