The gear has a cam carrier (9) fixed by a snap-in locking device that is arranged in a base cam shaft (1) in a notch and consists of a spring unit and a resting unit. The notch has a primary drill hole (4) for receiving the spring unit and the resting unit in the base cam shaft. A recess is formed in the base cam shaft and breaks through a peripheral ring of the primary drill hole at a surface of the base cam shaft.
