Formulation (A) containing at least one sympathomimetic (I). ACTIVITY : Antipruritic; Vasotropic. Patients with hemorrhoids of stages I or II were treated with anal inserts, of cotton-viscose blend, impregnated with 0.1% xylometazolin. 21 of 23 subjects were free of discomfort after 24 hours, and all were free after 36 hours. MECHANISM OF ACTION : (I) has a vasodilating action that facilitates drawing back of hemorrhoids into the anal passage and it inhibits coagulation of blood in hemorrhoids.
