Tribological layer comprises 40-90 vol.% matrix of heavy-duty thermoplastics material(s) (I), 10-60 vol.% reinforcing fibers (II) with a fiber length of 1-30 mm, arranged in the layer anisotropically, 2-50 vol.% binder (III) and 0-30 wt.% (with respect to the composition of the layer) additive (IV), such that the melting point of (I) is below the melting or softening point of (II) and the melting or decomposition point of (III) is higher than that of (I). An independent claim is also included for production of this layer.
