Fertilizer pellets comprising inorganic fertilizers and organic materials have a core-shell structure in which the shell is up to 1 mm thick and has a moisture content of no more than 17 wt.%, while the moisture content of the core is 20-25 wt.%. An independent claim is also included for producing the fertilizer pellets by mixing compost with plant nutrients, pelletizing the mixture and drying the pellets so that the moisture content is no more than 17 wt.% down to a depth of up to 1 mm.
