The cage is made of a reinforced composite. It includes epoxy resin, fibers or fabric and at least one additive reducing friction. The additive is a solid lubricant and/or a low-viscosity, sterilization-resistant oil. The fabric or fibers comprise cotton, glass, carbon, aramid or boron fibers. Proportions are: epoxy resin, fibers or fabric 20-60 vol%, solid lubricant when present 5-20 vol% and oil when present 0.5-5 wt% based on the cage material. A fine cotton fabric is used, of mesh 45 threads/cm. An independent claim is included for the method of manufacture.
