The vehicle seat has in the padded upholstery (8) a recess for the side airbag module (18). The seat cover (16) has a cut-out section which is smaller than the recess and projects over the edge (26) of the recess by an edge part. Fixing means for the cover comprise a flat profile (30) bent into an open ring and connected to the collar like protruding edge part. The ring profile is mounted on the outside of the edge part forming an open ring producing an expanding force. In the non-assembled state the flat profile points outwards away from the recess and for assembly can be inverted inwards into the recess and crimped outwards so that the flat profile bent into an open ring bears against the inside wall of the recess with pretension and the cover becomes taut. The flat profile is made of plastics.
