Bonding of polyethylene terephthalate film to silica gel keys, e.g. for pocket or notebook computer, mobile telephone or cordless telephone hand set keyboard, uses adhesive cured by ultraviolet light

Method of bonding PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film to silica gel keys comprises providing (a) a jig with numerous holes and not less than 2 locating pegs, (b) a PET film, which is given surface treatment and coated with UV adhesive; and (c) numerous silica gel keys, which are given surface treatment on lower side; placing keys in holes of jig; placing and fixing film on jig; fixing a transparent plate, with locating holes corresponding to pegs, on film; and irradiation with UV light. An independent claim is also included for an article of PET film and silica gel keys produced by this method.
