The method involves determination of the optimal camera position on the basis of reflectance chart by inspection of objects or characteristics (4). On the basis of the reflectance chart, spatial areas are selected which are consulted for the determination of the optimal lighting position or the camera position. On the basis of the boundary conditions given by the camera photograph, a threshold value for the necessary reflectance is determined. The reflectance value are divided into two ranges, one having sufficient reflectance and the other having insufficient reflectance. An independent claim is also included for the device for the production of the reflectance chart.
