The method involves receiving an FM signal and an associated ID signal (RDS signal) from a radio station. The received ID signal is filtered out of the received signal. A unique user signal is generated and combined with the ID signal or part of the ID signal (PS data signal) to form a user/radio-station signal, which is transmitted to a receiver, typically using a mobile telephone type transmitter. Independent claims are included for a computer program for determining and evaluating listening habits of radio listeners, and for an apparatus for determining listening habits.
