The feed device takes to band label roll spools (2, 3). When the first roll nears its end, the second roll (30) is supplied to the band label application device. The remainder of the first roll is transported in the opposite to feed direction and ejected. Sensors (S1, S2, S3, S4) detect the end of the roll being fitted in, and only end of the remainder of the roll being transported back before a replacement roll is automatically fitted in.
