Cleaning of welding head nozzle (p) by means of a cold medium e.g.cold carbon dioxide, where the welding head has an outer jacket (2) enveloping an inner space (3) which opens into a nozzle orifice (1). The cold medium is directed through outer jacket (2) in front of the nozzle orifice in the inner space to the inner space surface (8). A pressurized gas, e.g. compessed air is used to blow out deposited contaminants from the inner space. An independent claim is included for a welding head nozzle as described above.
