In a fluid distribution layer (FDL) (1) comprising a 3-dimensional system of fluid transporting channels (10)-(13), with channels running in different dimensions in fluid connection at defined points, the system has outlets on a first FDL surface (S1) such that fluid supplied non-homogeneously on other surfaces is distributed within the system and exits from all of the outlets on (S1) in a homogeneous distribution pattern over the whole of (S1). Independent claims are included for the following: (A) a membrane arrangement comprising a membrane permeably to a predetermined material and at least one FDL as above on one side of the membrane; and (B) a method for producing of FDL's as above, involving assembling layers of material with through-holes or indentations in appropriate positions, so that the sequence of holes in the individual layers together creates the channel system.
