Plastic transporting crate or pallet marking method uses one tool wall part for molding the wall on which the mark is to be created and a replacement tool part for molding the mark separately onto the wall
An injection molding tool for production of the crate or pallet has a wall which carries the mark and comprises two exchangeable moving tool parts. One tool part forms the shape of the wall carrying the mark and a second tool part forms the mark itself. Plastic is injected into the tool cavity to mold the crate or pallet body and allowed to solidify. The tool part for forming the wall to carry the mark is then replaced by the tool part incorporating the mark. Plastic for forming the mark is injected via a separate channel to form a mark on the wall. Plastic for molding the mark may be of a different color and/or different chemical structure from the plastic forming the crate or pallet wall. The two different tool wall parts may be pushed individually from two different holding positions into their working position and locked. Alternatively both tool parts may be mounted on a common tool slide which can be moved into two positions and locked in either. Marks may be injected so that protrude above the wall surface or can be formed by injecting plastic into recesses until flush with the surface. An independent claim is included for a mark on one or more walls or the base of a rigid plastic transporting crate, pallet or board. The mark is formed by a second plastic injected during the injection cycle for the crate or pallet.
