The oar device for a rower sitting facing the direction of travel consists of an oar or skull in the form of a single-arm lever curved out horizontally forward with rowlock-like rotational points at the height of the boat's hull upper edge on the boat's side furthest from the oar blades, and with spring elements (5) to compensate for the weight of the oar. Each one-piece lever consists of an inner section (1) which in the vertical plane has upwards orientated bend (2), and continues in a straight oar shaft (4) rotatable around the longitudinal axis and provided with a grip (3).
