The insert comprises of an upper flange (32) and a lower section (34) projecting axially from the flange type section. An annular groove (35) is provided at a transition point between the flange and the section. The flange has an open recess (42) provided axial to the annular groove. The profile of the recess is matched with the cross sectional form of an O-ring (10), where the recess accommodates the O-ring partially. An independent claim is also included for a hydraulic device comprising an insert and a borehole formed in a housing.
