After-cleaning of stripped regions of an electrical cable with at least one electrical conductor surrounded by a synthetic plastic polymer insulating layer where in the stripped regions this layer is applied by laser evaporation involving:removal of residual plastic material after application of the insulating layer by application of an alcohol-based liquid, followed by mechanical cleaning of the area, e.g. with a rotating brush.
