The vehicle has a control unit (3) with an approximation sensor (22) for recognizing the approximation of an operator for the control unit. A lighting control (20) is provided for adjusting the lighting of the control unit based on the evaluation of the output signal of the approximation sensor. The evaluation is dependant on the operating condition of the vehicle or is adjustable by an operator.
