A high-pressure discharge lamp comprises a two-sided sealed unit (1') of transparent ceramic with two electrodes (2',3') producing a discharge in a xenon gas and metal halide filling. The uniform diameter of the ceramic tube is not greater than 1.2 mm and the cold fill pressure of the xenon is at least 0.8 Mpa.
