The air flow regulator regulates the suction air flow through a nozzle of a vacuum cleaner. A suction channel (30) takes up the suction air flow. Leak air is fed to the suction channel via a leak air opening (36,37). The opening can be selectively opened or closed by a closure. The leak air is fed to the suction channel parallel to the flow direction of the suction air.
