The device has a conductor, whose conductivity includes two functional processes, which are executed based on length of the conductor. A longitudinal scale of a sliding unit (53) is positioned in relation to a longitudinal index of another sliding unit (28) by relative movement of both the sliding units. The positioning of the longitudinal scale enables determination of the conductor type and conductor diameter based on the processes. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining a fluid-technical component e.g. pneumatic component.
