Pastel white, high-covering, finely divided and doped rutile pigment (A), based on rutile of crude or synthetic quality, has reduced photoactivity (which is resistant to milling) and particle size distribution (diameters) 150-1000 nm, with a peak at 300-600 nm, in mono- or oligo-modal frequency distributions. An independent claim is included for a method for preparing (A).
