Collision avoidance system for use on commercial road vehicles uses inputs from distance sensors to provide guidance information

The commercial road vehicle such as an articulated lorry is fitted with a collision avoidance system that operates when manoeuvring the vehicle. The rear is fitted with a detection sensor [12] that responds to a wall or obstruction [13]. The side of the vehicle also has side facing sensors. The sensors together with the trailer [11] dimensions are used by an on board processor to provide guidance instructions to the driver.
