The method involves casting a wheel blank (1) from aluminum material under formation of a thick rim area (4). The blank within the rim area (4) is inductively heated in such a manner that a thin rim base and a rim flange of relatively specific rim width and wall thickness are formed by cold forming by spinning, using a shaping tool. Axial sections of the area are inductively heated in different recast temperatures, before each section is reformed. An independent claim is also included for device for heating a rotation-symmetric body, comprising an induction device.
