The device (1) has a hand brake lever (2), which is fastened pivoted to a bearing block (3) and consists of a main body (4) and a guide (5). The brake lever is fixed in a chosen pivot position by a locking device, and this is in active connection with an actuator rod (7) moving in the guide. The guide has apertures (25) positioned offset behind each other, which increase in size towards the free end of the guide, and segments of the rod engage freely in the apertures. The hand brake lever is a one-piece cast part, e.g. of cast light metal alloy, or is an injection-molded plastic part.
