The method involves subjecting a component in a test of a load, and measuring a mass for the load as an actual-load which sets the component until a preset time during the test. Another mass is preset as a reference load setting the component between preset and future time. The reliability is predicted using the actual and reference loads, a number of faults between the time, and correlation between the load in test and in future use. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a computer program component loaded in an internal memory of a computer to execute a method for predicting reliability of a component (B) a digital storage medium with electronically selectable control signals, which can interact with a programmable data processing equipment to execute a method for predicting reliability of a component.
