The oil channel return structure returns the oil from the cylinder head (8) to the sump (10). The vertically divided crankcase (5, 6) includes an oil trap for part of the oil sent to the cylinder head. The oil return channel (45, 46) returns the oil from the oil trap to the sump, which is a cavity in the front part of the crankcase. The surface cross section of the oil return channel decreases in the downstream direction.
