The assembly has a housing sub-assembly (12) forming a set of compartments receiving a test strip material (14) and a thermometer (16). The housing forms a slot opening out of one compartment through which one end of the test strip material is fed. The test strip material is in the form of a roll, and a portion of one of the compartments is cylindrical and includes wall surfaces for guiding the strip material towards the slot. An independent claim is also included for an apparatus storing a roll of test strip material and elongated thermometer, comprising a housing forming a cavity.
