The support component (1) decouples the track covering (3) from vertical rail movements, at least close to the rail (2). The support (1) is made of plastic. Its cross sectional profile is essentially Z-shaped. The support includes a projection resting against an area on the side of the rail head. The support of the track covering passes under the rail in the sleeper region, parallel to the run of the rail. It is at least indirectly supported on the foundation. The support is located at the side of the rail and runs along parallel with it. Support length along the rail, exceeds the sleeper width in this direction. The support upper surface is profiled. A projection (6) of the support rests on the base of the rail. It includes a recess below the rail head, which covers the rail fastening components. Ends of the support perpendicular to the rail, have peg and recess connectors which fasten the supports together, parallel to the run of the rail. There are wedge-shaped notch housings on the side of the support facing away from the rail. Inlaid material fills up the square space left between adjacent sleepers.
