An aid for fitting glass panels, e.g. windscreens, into a vehicle has a pair of suction pads (14) linked by a connector (12) including a hand grip (22), with the connector length adjustable (18) and with tilt connections (20) to the pads. The installer is able to adjust the tilt setting to match the curvature of the glass. The length and tilt adjustments enables the installer to position one pad on the vehicle body and the other on the glass. The alignment of the glass in the mounting frame is controlled simply by twisting the hand grip to shorten or extend the connection. The system can include one or two tilt connections.
