A water tap for sanitary fittings has a shaped outlet (2) fitted with a grid or perforated plate (4, 6) to produce an outlet spray pattern at an angle to the supply feed. No moving parts are required nor any joints. Each outlet hole is defined by sidewalls (7) of any suitable cross sectional shape, e.g. hole array, mesh. Air can be drawn into the water flow for added effect.
