A warp beam (1) for a power loom, comprising a beam tube (10) with its outer surface forming a winding body and two beam discs (20, 30) fixed to the tube with their disc bodies (21, 31) at a distance from one another so that their inner sides (21b, 31b) form a winding zone (3), in which at least one of the discs (30) has a slot (40) open at the edge (36) and reaching from the inside (31b) to the outside (31a) for pulling out a starting section of warp yarn before winding it from zone (3).
