Meters are contained in a conventional casing. From and including the second unit, these can be cut off from the network by an external signal, or returned to it again. The first meter unit provides an emergency supply, has a power limit and cannot be cut off from the network. A modulated signal carried on the network controls switching. The unit can be retro-fitted in each connected household or organization.
