A camera (1) mounting plate (2) rotates horizontally about an axis (C) on a carriage (3) running along a rail (4) and moving past the fixed object (8) to be photographed. Rail, carriage and mounting can also be moved along in a direction at right angles to the rail (4). The rail is mounted on carriages (5a, 5b) on two other rails (6a, 6b) at right angles to the first (4). Comprehensive provisions are made for camera tilt, swing and rise and fall. Adjustments are automated using stepper motors. A computer provides for manual and automatic control of relative positioning, direction and image taking.
