The device for the floating of buildings comprises a trough of water impermeable material (1) which serves as a base for any building standing in relation to the buoyancy of the trough. The trough is let into a building pit bounded by sheet piling (3). A flashing of water-permeable material (2) is fastened on all sides on the sheet piling and trough so that it folds out in the event of high water and protects the pit on all sides against penetrating sediments and other materials suspended in the water.
