An electrostatic dust separator for purifying gases comprises an essentially cylindrical gas ionizer and at least one filter tube set in the center of the ionizer. The flow profile (4) of a wall of the gas ionizer tube (6) is in the form of a meandering ribbon designed to produce a cascade-like gradation of the flow.
