The die plate(2) is attached to a rear wall(1) whose melt flow channels(3) run into feed channels(4,5) in the die plate leading to nozzles(6,7). Further channels(12,13) passing through the rear wall(1) carry temperature control medium to and from the die plate. Fluid enters the die plate at an inlet(14) and leaves at an outlet(15), the inlet and outlet forming a continuous path between the two temperature control medium flow channels, each of which includes a shut-off valve(17,18) outside the rear wall. The temperature control medium channels(12,13), which carry either a fluid or vapor, penetrate the rear wall perpendicular to the melt flow channels(3) and turn off towards the inlet and outlet(14,15) in the die plate(2). The inlet and outlet extend to a channel system in the die plate which comprises a ring channel(16) surrounding the melt feeds(4,5) to the nozzles(6,7) and a chamber(25) inside the melt feeds and nozzles.
