A closure unit for an injection moulding machine comprises at least two tensioning plates (12,14) which can move relative to each other, at least two tensioning members which are fixed to one plate and can pass through the other, and at least one knee lever unit (18). The latter allows the tensioning plates to move relative to one another and applies the closure pressure. A drive is used to actuate the knee lever, and the knee lever unit is connected to the second tensioning plate on one side, and the tensioning member on the other. The closure unit drive consists of a piston cylinder hydraulic unit.
