A hot-melt adhesive (HMA) film for self-assembly of a book comprises a heat-resistant underlay (10) supporting the HMA layer (20), which adheres to the underlay (other than at the edge (11)) and can be removed from the underlay via the edge, cut (together with the underlay) to match the book spine size, torn from the underlay, adhered to the spine and the spine is heated to melt the adhesive and (after cooling) adhere pages stacked inside the spine. A hot-melt adhesive (HMA) film for self-assembly of a book comprises a heat-resistant underlay (10) supporting the HMA layer (20) of even thickness, which adheres to the underlay (other than at the edge (11)) and can be easily removed from the underlay via the edge. The HMA layer is cut together with the underlay on the basis of the measurements of the spine of the book cover; the HMA layer is torn from the underlay and adhered to the inside of the spine; the pages are stacked together in the cover; and the spine is heated to melt the adhesive, such that after cooling the cover and the pages adhere together.
