The upper edge of the stencil fits into and is held by a seating (8) around the base of the storage container (2), onto which it is placed. Where the base of the container is joined to its sidewall, the connecting seam projects downwardly. The edges of the base and sidewall are turned over together, forming a beaded seam at the lower edge of the sidewall. The sidewall is cylindrical or square in cross section. A further seating edge is formed in the sidewall, by a side projection lying in a plane. The stencil is a planar disc with an opening in it. An attachment is formed by a double-walled region of the stencil which projects at right angles to its plane, from the outer edge. This clips resiliently to the seating (8). A number of openings forms a pattern. The stencil is made from food-compatible plastic. The edge of the stencil is a thickening, into which the attachment groove is pressed, such that it fits the seating.
