The device for pressing and/or sealing the upper surface of plant substrates has a hand-grip (4, 8) and a stamp (12) arranged at the distal end (10) of the hand-grip. The stamp is adapted, via a section of its outer contour (18), to the inner contour (22) of a plant pot (24). The stamp may be a longitudinally stretched component that is perpendicular to the hand-grip and may be curved. The stamp may be made from moisture and/or dirt resistant material or may be partially coated with a similar material. The upper side of the stamp may be arched whilst the under side of the stamp may be flat.
